We’d appreciate it if you would volunteer some of your time during the day to help us out.  The peak times are early morning set up @ 7:00 a.m. to about 9:30 a.m. and then again noon time help 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. but we’ll take you anytime throughout the day just to give others a break!  This is going to be a very long tournament so we’ll also need some evening coverage as well  We’re going to need as many hot dishes as we can get like ziti, goulash, mac & cheese, chili, meatballs, etc. donated to help us out with feeding the kids and their families.  Baked goods such as cookies, cupcakes or brownies are also welcome!  Remember that all donated hot dishes and baked goods represent 100% profit going directly to the booster club which benefits the entire team.  Please make sure that your hot dishes are in disposable aluminum pans (if at all possible) so that we can keep them hot in the warmer.  This also helps with clean up too.

We’ll be setting up in the main hallway this time which is right outside of the main gym (old gym) so look for us there.

Please email Nina Duffy at nina.duffy@alarmtraders.com if you’re able to help with either your time or a food donation as soon as you can.  She’ll need to know what time frame you can help during and/or what hot dish or baked good you might be able to bring.

Congratulations to varsity squad for solid performance at this past weekend's Eastern States Classic at Sullivan County Community College.  The team took a 4th place overall among a 73-team field.  The competition in many of the weight classes was as tough as the State tournament will be!  Nick Kelley took 1st place at 119lbs.  John Belanger took 3rd place at 135lbs.  Seth Hazelton took 7th place at 140lbs.  Mike Almaviva took 8th place at 189lbs.  Many other wrestlers won several matches against top quality competition.  For complete results, go to http://www.armdrag.com/ to see the brackets.

Best wishes from the Shen Wrestling community to the Varsity team that is travelling downstate Thursday night to compete on Friday and Saturday (1/8 and 1/9) in the 73-team Eastern States Wrestling Tournament made up of many of the top big and small school programs in NY State as well as outside of NY.  Good Luck - we're proud of you!

And to our rapidly-developing JV squad that is competing in the biggest JV tournament of the year among 20 other schools at Colonie HS on Saturday (1/9).   This is a hotbed for many future Varsity-level performers to go against quality competition and test their mettle!  Great job against Guilderland last night, and we're very proud of you too!!!

THE SHEN WRESTLING BOOSTERS

Congratulations to Coach Weeks, Coach Pop, Coach Meys and the Shen Varsity Team for earning the team championship at the highly competitive Teike-Bernabi Invitational in Spencerport, NY on 12/29 and 12/30 in a field made up of 21 of the top teams in NY state. 

More details on this as well as the Shen JV Invitational (12/30) and the Shen Varsity Invitational (1/2) will follow....

Please note that the date of the Shen Varsity Invitational is Saturday, January 2nd at Shen High School East.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00. 

As you can see, we've started adding pictures to the action website!  All families and friends that have digital pictures from matches and tournaments this year are encouraged to send these in for posting on the website.  Please send them along to Beth Orabona at orabona@earthlink.net.  Thanks!

Piggy-backing on the emails sent out by Nina Duffy and Theresa Rhodes to Shen wrestling families, please try and help out on Satruday, 1/2 at the Shen Varsity Invitational.  All contributions of pot luck dishes, snacks, fruit, etc are welcomed.  Your time to help out with set-up, during the day and clean-up is not just welcomed - it's encouraged and appreciated. Please send Nina or Theresa an RSVP if you haven't already!!!
